A Message from the AICPA Government Performance and Accountability Committee
The AICPA Government Performance and Accountability Committee (GPAC) represents your interests within the Institute, providing advice and counsel on the needs of CPAs working in federal, state and local government. In that role, we recently evaluated the proposal for the AICPA to integrate operations with The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) through a new association representing the entire profession, while preserving both membership bodies. The proposal is currently out for member vote, and you should have received your ballot last week.
Our committee unanimously endorses the proposal and encourages you to vote “yes.”
The proposal has many benefits – enhanced advocacy, expanded resources, additional education opportunities — but among the most compelling for CPAs in government is the stronger international connection. Governments around the world are trying innovative approaches to service delivery, public-private partnerships and infrastructure development while managing the shifting needs of the people they serve. This proposal will equip us with an expanded networks and insight to explore these ideas and advance our professional development. And it builds on all the other resources and benefits the AICPA provides to help members succeed.
In addition to our committee’s endorsement, the proposal is supported by the AICPA’s Board of Directors, governing Council, 52 state CPA societies and AICPA committees representing members in firms, industry and education.
Please vote today.
